I recently went to the Roots cafe for lunch. What a friendly atmosphere. The soup and sandwich I had were the best. The yummiest potato leek soup and cuban sandwich. My mom had a salad that was so delish – prices were great too. Cant wait to go there for breakfast
I recommend anyone who visits the West Chester area to try Roots Cafe. They support local growers and all of their menu options are fabulous!! The soup of the day is always fresh and hearty! The owners have an excellent way of pairing food choices that you wouldn’t have put together. The fish tacos are to DIE for. I could ramble about the food for days. The culture is very welcoming and you feel like you’re in your grandmother’s kitchen on a Sunday for dinner. Dan introduces himself to anyone that walks through and really connects with the neighborhood. I can’t wait to go back!

I go to Roots Cafe at least 5 times a week. Not only is their food awesome but the owner really cares about keeping the food locally sourced and fresh. Their specials are great and the staff is very friendly. I just wish they had more seating. I’m sure that’s soon to come!
I’ve been to Roots countless times now and I have never encountered a dish that I didn’t absolutely love. The Secret Garden is to die for and I could live on the soups. The portions are extremely generous and the food is some of the freshest I’ve had in West Chester. Great place with a very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. This would be the first place I would suggest to a friend in West Chester.
Purchased a full size Greek salad for almost $10 and the amount of lettuce did not even fill the plastic container it came in. The olives were so soft that my plastic fork smushed then when trying to pick them up, the pepperchini was soaked in its juice that when I picked it up it just poured out, there were 3 cucumber slices, 4 grape tomatoes and maybe 8 chick peas. The bread they give you on the side was the end of the loaf and very cardboard in texture, probably leftover from last week. The maker of the salad used the corners of the container for the bread, peppers, olives and artichokes to make the salad appear large, but when you dig in there is NO lettuce, definitely not worth $10. No salads from Roots, get a better portion at Landmark for the same price and more portion at saladworks for less price.
Michelle, we apologize your salad was not made properly, this is actually the first complaint we have ever had on any salad. In any case, the Greek salad has actually been taken off the menu i order to make room for salads utilizing fresher and more local ingredients. We strive to use the best ingredients we can get our hands on and feel our pricing is very fair. Our bread is made each day and we do not hold onto it for more then two days and then we make croutons. We hope you will come back in and have a meal on the house because we are confident in the products we put out and wish to serve the town of west chester for a long time. We take what we do very seriously and intend to serve only satisfied customers
stopped by for lunch on Sunday ……what a great meal ……tasty crab bisque ….had the Rachel on sourdough …….grilled perfectly …great sandwich ……..there is no doubt we will be back
This place never disappoints. Great menu, super fresh ingredients, and a friendly staff make this an obvious choice for a quick bite. Just wish they had a larger seating area!
Go here all the time. Very friendly staff and really good specials, including some creative grilled cheeses. Highly recommended!
