Where to begin for my time at Nonna’s? Okay so driving around Nonna’s looking for parking is horrible it took me probably around 20 mins to find parking. The hostess told me there was valet parking a few weeks ago? Anyways moving on, the restaurant was very calm and had a nice atmosphere with subtle lighting. The Chicken Piccatta was way overcooked and too dry. The calamari I thought was just batter. My fondest memory would be leaving the venue. To be honest I would only come back for a drink at the bar and that’s pretty much it.
Went there for the first time last weekend. My eggplant parm was pretty good. It was a huge portion so I had a lot left over. The ricotta cheesecake was terrible though. It was barely edible. They also don’t have brewed iced tea which I thought was strange given how popular it is. I would go back and give it another try though.
Took my visiting parents and kids (14 & 10) to Nonna’s last night (the week between Christmas and New Years). Seemed very crowded but we got our table quickly and the waiter appeared pretty quick for first round of drinks. Got bread to the table pretty quick too as the kids were very hungry. We brought our own wine which was good because he never asked the kids again if they wanted another drink. Placed our orders and then proceeded to wait OVER AN HOUR for our food. When it finally arrived it was not all ready so they brought out a few and you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp. I had linguine with white clam that looked like it had been sitting for some time. Kids were starving so they ate theirs quickly but my 10 year old commented that his was luke-warm and so/so. Very disappointed in service. We have another favorite Italian in Edgemont whose foods comes out steaming hot every time and is amazing but it is not in West Chester. We wanted the atmosphere. If you are in West Chester you NEED to deliver and it would be solved by hiring more staff! Seems pretty simple. Won’t be going back any time soon.
Nonna's was more than I even expected-a delicious taste of the old world Italian I grew up with in NJ! My date and I shared the antipasto platter, which was out of this world-I could have ordered this as an entire meal to myself! Followed by, the Linguini Nonna-linguini in a PERFECT tomato sauce with a large portion of calamari, clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops….and of course followed with their Tiramisu, which I must say was wonderfully done as well. I will be coming back here as my new favorite WC staple-and I must say the service was a great match to this delicious meal =)
My wife, two sisters, and I had a great meal and a great time at Nonna's. We orderred the antipasto and calimari to start the evening. The bread was very good and the white wine was nicely chilled. We then split orders of Caesar and arugula salads -very nice. All of us selected Linguini Nonna. It was great, as indicated by others. The servce could have been better. We finsihed the meal with cappuccino, decaf or regular I opted to add Amaretto to my cappuccino. Thankfully it was a Wednesday night; there was no need to rush the meal. We left two and a half hours later, very happy, very full, and vowing to return. A great night all around!
Three of us ate there tonight for dinner, and we all enjoyed our meal. I had roasted vegetable ravioli in a pesto/creamy sauce; husband had chicken picatta, son had tortellini alfredo. Appetizers of prosciutto/melon and baby artichokes/greens/garlic were very good. Service was fast and attentive, we made reservations through the Open Table website, we were happy with our meal. We will go again.
I am overall VERY PLEASED with this place. The atmosphere was excellent and so was the food. However, I have 2 complaints:1. We had to wait about 1 1/2 hours for our food, which disappointed me. We heard it was because there were 2 parties of 9 at the place and it was like we were pushed to the back. We have NEVER waited that long for 3 meals before. (there were 3 of us)2. I ordered the Tortellini Alfredo and I was upset that they ran out of tortellini. I had to order Fettucine Alfredo instead, which was a bummer because not only did I have few options because I do not eat red sauce, but I had the exact same meal 2 nights in a row.We will come back, but I hope it isn't as crowded like it was last night.
My husband and I went there last weekend. We are food fans and love good cooking. We had reservations and were seated relatively soon. However, we got our drinks 35 minutes later and apps about 25 minutes later than that. One of our apps was cold in the center and had to be sent back. The salads were delicious. Entree's were decent but my meal seemed to have sat for a while. The seafood in the pasta was dried out. Overall, service was horrible and food was just ok. I'd try again but definitley not on the weekend.
Menu had a Pietro’s Prime cover which seemed odd. The Pan fried sardines appetizer was good as was the staff although we had a long wait for the main entrees.Waiter asked how I wanted the Tuna Puttanesca prepared (rare please) but was terribly overcooked as was the pasta.Wife ordered the Roasted Red Pepper Goat Cheese Ravioli which obviously sat too long and had started to develop a skin.
I have mixed feelings about the resturant.
Our server was great and so were the starters. The entrees were awful. The spaghetti tasted like it was from a box and the meatballs were horrible. I didn't say anything to the server about my meal, (come on how do you mess up spaghetti )she had already told me that not all of thier pasta is fresh/homemade since they are still new. I just
assumed the spaghetti was!
My husbands fish came out rubbery and was under cooked. We sent the fish back without a fuss so the chef could finish cooking it. We did not have a problem that the same piece(s) of fish were cooked and
replated. But we shoul have!!
The overall experience was less then par. The meal was expensive, they served under cooked fish, bad spaghetti and we weren't even offered a comp dessert or acknowledged by the manager.
—-Did I mention undercooked rubbery fish and the resturant was
almost empty since it was a weeknight? The kitchen was not slammed. No excuse. This was Italian not sushi!
As regular customers, it’s been consistently great (the sauce is wonderful). This is not an average Italian restaurant where you can get cheap plates of pasta. This is authentic Italian food, and we think it’s a good value given the quality. The seafood selections are excellent. Their other West Chester restaurant, Pietro’s Prime, is terrific, so we’re not surprised that Nonna’s is as well. The bar area is really nice too. We’re hooked.
I love this place. I think the food is excellent, and for the quality and presentation of food, it is priced reasonably. I've had the Linguini Nonna (linguini with seafood) twice and hate to even try something else because it is so good. The mussels appetizer was delicious. I asked for more bread to enjoy all of the broth. It is an upscale restaurant so don't expect Joe's Pizza (made-up) pricing. Two different level restaurants with two different levels of pricing, service, ambiance, presentation, etc.
I have been to Nonna's twice and am going again Sat. Jan.2nd. The first time was with another couple on a Sat. night in December and although the service and food were great, and prices were good, it was very noisey. It seemed they sat everyone there in the front room first and then started filling up the back. I realize this was probably to make the restaurant look full from the front window where people were walking by, but at some points in the evening it was just too loud.
The second time I went was on a Thursday evening with just my husband. Again, great food, service and prices and beacause it wasn't so crowded it wasn't as noisey and I really enjoyed my birthday dinner. They spread the people out more evenly throughout the restaurant also.
Their Bolonese is a delicious mix of beef, veal, and pork and excellent in their lasagne which was at least 5 inches high. The goat cheese ravioli with red pepper cream sauce and lump crabmeat was BEAUTIFULLY presented and so good I'm ordering it again Sat. night. Cudos to all the staff at Nonna's!!!
I love this restaurant! Not ceratain what these other people are talking about. Prices were more than fair. Food was outstanding. Our server was courteous, friendly, knowledgable of the menu, and very accommodating. People just want something for nothing. I know were in recession. If you can't afford to eat out, stay home. Kudo's to Nonna's!!

I used to be a regular customer at Trattoria Alberto and I was very excited to experience the new restaurant.
They made some changes for the best-in my oppinion-as far as the look of the place go.Yes,I agree that at the beginning it was a bit expensive and the food was not so great.BUT!Come on give them a little break! It's not that easy when you open a restaurant and yes,you make some mistakes at the beginning.I was there noumerous times ever since and they proved a lot. They reduced the prices and(I don't know but may have a new chef as well)our dishes were very tasteful and nice portion as well each and every time.Especially the pasta dishes!!
The bar has great ambiance!
So,overall I recommend this restaurant if you want to have a nice night out with good food and great atmosphere!
I waited for the opening of Nonna's with great anticipation. Previously it was Alberto's. I've been there several times since they opened as Nonna's, each time hoping that they would have made some changes in the kitchen to improve the food. But, alas, they haven't yet.
Why they raised the bar (at great expense) I'll never know. The poor bartender now looks like he's working in a pit. All you can see is his head. They took down all the pictures and the walls are bare. The food is nothing spactacular either. They really must make some changes before word of mouth closes this place once again.
Why do these owners think that when they open a restaurant in West Chester they can charge outrageous prices? It's a recession, create a menu that reflects VALUE!
I went there expecting a great meal and was very dissappointed. We ordered salads and after about 5 mins had our entree's delivered as if we were being rushed along. The dinners we just ok, nothing special and rather expensive. I would not go back.
