We have been to Firecreek about 3 times for Happy Hour, all with a group of 6 people. It is nice to sit outside, however, we have never had a truly good experience. All times the female bartender has been rude; she seems to be rushed and doesn’t have the time for us. The Happy Hour menu has decreased over time, as well as the portions. The latest time we were there, my husband and friend ordered the salmon burger with an avocado sauce. It came out dry, with no sauce. We mentioned this to the waitress and she came back, telling us the kitchen had no sauce, would we like tarter sauce. We were highly dissapointed, so she got the manager for us. The manager came out and threw the waitress right under the bus; telling us it was her fault. WOW, what a manager! As the manager, you my friend, are supposed to take ownership for everything that occurs in your establishment. He did comp our meals, but his actions were unexcusable and my husband and I will NEVER go back.

  • To simply state it…an absolutely wonderful dining experience. My brother & I took our parents here on Saturday for their birthday celebration and we were also accompanied by our girlfriends (total of six people). Although probably not necessary, I made reservations a month in advance and they let me know that if the private dining room was not booked for an event we would be seated there; lucky for us it was not booked and not only was the room not loud like the main dining area, but the room was very-well decorated…not too dark, but not too light. The hostess was very nice and sat us immediately; we were also a few minutes late for our reservations and they were just fine with it.

The menu is extremely well laid out with a great balance of appetizers, salads, and main courses…enough to choose from, but not too many where you can't make your mind up. Our server Kristen was fantastic and quite attentive to our requests. We also had an individual on a nutrition plan and they were very accommodating to take a special meal order. The food was phenomenal and we could not have asked for a better night out to dinner. The bill even ended up be less than I originally thought it would be. We had appetizers, salads, meals, wine, and (strong) mixed drinks and my brother and I could not have been more pleased to pay what we did and thought it was worth every penny.

Thank you to the Firecreek staff – those that we interacted with and those that work behind the scenes – for allowing us to have such a wonderful evening. I will certainly go back again and have already spread the word on how great of a place it is!

  • From start to finish…..amazing. My girlfriend and I started off with the Calamari for an appetizer. Delicious and the first time I tasted a "tex mex" approach to fried calamari. I had the rainbow trout and my girlfriend had the NY Strip. The trout was so flavorful and fresh. The steak was cooked to perfection with a nice crisp outer coating. Blue cheese mashed potatoes were very potent, but hey, blue cheese is one strong cheese….still delicious. Dessert…get the Highland Orchard Donut bread pudding! And the Basset Ice Cream sliders!…..such a simple dessert, yet so elegant in its own way. The service was impeccable as our server was attentive to our every need…..which wasn't many needs at all. I love the decor of the renovated paper mill and the open style kitchen. Go here, eat, and be merry!

  • Ventured out to Firecreek this past Friday for an overdue Valentine's dinner. I was not worried about the negative reviews at all, and wasn't disappointed at all. The entire experience was great. We both had an appetizer, French Onion soup and the Calamari. I had the calamari and it was the best, most unique, calamari I have had in a long time. My wife had the Filet and I had a duck special, which was awesome with well-prepared meat and great accompanying potatoes and hash. All was washed down with a very nice Washington Riesling. Dessert was equally great. We shared the ice cream sandwich sliders and I enjoyed a terrific apple ice wine. Service was great, ambiance was fun and Philly-like. As I often visit restaurants in Philly for business lunches, it really felt like we were there for dinner…without the drive or parking issues. The only thing we didn't like 100% was the length of the table for two…a tad long for our taste, but we were able to have a nice conversation without talking loud. All-in-all, a terrific experience and we will certainly be back there.

  • Table for two on 12/26, 6PM. Date night for two busy parents. The short version – we had a wonderful dining experience at Firecreek and will return. The long version, read on –

Service/Atmosphere: The service we had was very attentive. The waiter was polite, unobtrusive, and brought our orders out in a well-paced manner – meaning we had a nice break between each course. He was professional and offered suggestions that seemed well-intentioned, not pushy. While some may complain about the noise, we were not bothered (with the dining room and bar being full by the time we left). Tables are well-spaced apart. If Firecreek wanted to they could cram more people in here, but then you would feel like you were eating with the table next to you. The ambiance was romantic to my wife and I. We enjoyed the layout and decor of the space.

Food: I have heard Firecreek is hit or miss re: their food. Tonight was definitely a hit. We both had appetizers. My wife had the scallops which were like butter and well-seasoned/prepared. I had The Wedge – a steak house classic. While I enjoyed it thoroughly, I would try something different in the future. For Entrees, she had the delmonico (cooked as requested – medium) and I had the short ribs (a little dry, but flavorful and generously portioned). For dessert we could not turn down the Apple Cider Donut bread pudding. Top notch. Lastly, while I agree that prices are a bit high for the burbs, the food and the experience and the freedom of a night out was well worth the cost. I hope others enjoy it as much as we did.

  • We have had dinner at Firecreek three times so far for special occasions and the experience was excellent. We love their steaks, which are the equal of any fancy steakhouse. They have been prepared exactly as ordered and are of superb quality and tenderness. The filet mignon could be cut with a fork. The side dishes were great, too. We had a different server each visit, and each of them was very professional and attentive and personable. What a nice addition to a growing dining scene in downtown Downingtown.

  • 1st time at firecreek, but I don't think we will go back.
While the service was great, the meal (filet, with mashed potatoes and bernaise sauce) was so salty. The potatoes did not taste fresh. My steak was cooked well. I would hate to see what well looked like if I ordered it that way.
My husband was not impressed with his prime rib either.
The prices are very high, I would have expected a better meal.

Love it!!! Immediately greeted by the hostesses with warmth and smiles…and the decor gives you the same feelings. Such a cool city feel right in Downingtown. The kitchen was dead on…steaks were prepared and flavored perfectly, the ginger tuna was delicious and of great quality, and the flourless chocolate cake was the perfect end to the meal. My wife and I were very impressed with the whole experience…the server, Melanie, was professional, yet not stuffy, and extremely knowledgeable, accomodating and friendly. The bus boys were also very attentive and friendly..the whole experience was great. They have it right at Firecreek and can't wait to go back and enjoy again.

We went to Firecreek last night and for the most part enjoyed our evening. At 6:30 P.M. the restaurant was nearly full and I would describe the noise level as moderately loud. Although shown to our table quickly, our waiter was very slow to arrive. He was apologetic and attentive for the rest of the meal with the exception that we never received bread, which was offered to all the other tables. We shared the calamari appetizer, a fairly large portion that was perfectly cooked with jalapenos and a spicy sauce – delicious. Two in our group had the filet mignon, one the prime rib, and I had the tuna with bok choy. We all enjoyed the food. The tuna was medium rare and very spicy, as advertised. The only suggestion I would make is to cut down on the bok choy and perhaps add some rice to the dish. While very good, no one eats the amount of bok choy I was given. The buttermilk mashed potatoes were excellent, just like homemade. A bit on the expensive side, so it’s not a restaurant I’ll be going to every week. All in all, it was a good experience and we will go back

  • This place is fantastic. The decor is great. The outdoor seating looked great – overlooks the river – yes you also overlook Route 30 – but you can forget about that easily enough. The food was outstanding. My husband and I were soo impressed and can't wait to go back. Yes, in Downingtown. Steaks were prepared perfectly, and they are very accomodating. Whatever you want, however you want it. The mac and cheese is out of this world. As are the ice cream sandwich sliders – WOW!! I love this place. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
