Over 70 teams are scheduled to duke it out this Sunday, October 14th, all vying for recognition in the 10th Annual Chili Cook-off presented by the West Chester Rotary Club. While some are repeat contenders and others are gearing up for their first year, everyone has a fair chance at taking home first prize in more than one category. Of the many spots to steal, the People’s Choice Award division is always sought after by participants. Mainly because, as the name entails, this winner is chosen by YOU. Guests who attend the special event in Downtown West Chester are granted a tasting wristband for $10 and one token to cast their vote after noshing through as much chili as possible.
So who might be hungrier for a People’s 1st place position more than anyone else? Probably a contender who missed the champion spot by only a few votes each of the past three years. That’s understandable, right? It just so happens that participant is your neighborhood Iron Hill Brewery and they are planning to hit the competition this year more fiery than ever.
Iron Hill Brewery hopes to take down fierce competition with their special “Wicked Gypsy” chili but it won’t be easy. Going up against heavy hitters like Doc Magrogan’s “Deserted Crab”, America’s Pie’s “Revolutionary Chili”, and Carlino’s Specialty Foods‘ “Red In The Neck Chili” means they must bring their absolute A-Game. Plus, also in the line-up this year are the ”comfort food kings” of Bordley House Grille who were seen dominating the Thorndale Rotary Club’s Chester County Mac & Cheese Cook-off in June.

The restaurants mentioned are merely just a peek at who IHB must go up against. It’s best to spy the big picture HERE, then attend the Chili Cook-off this Sunday to get a taste for yourself. The Rotary Club needs your help on deciding who makes the best darn chili so get out there and taste one for the team!
