Uncle Bob's Shrimp

shrimp.jpgMy Uncle Bob has a knack for making amazing shrimp, and this Thanksgiving was no exception. He arrived with 15 pounds of shrimp and prepared them two very tasty ways. Here are his secret notes…

Steamed Shrimp:

Add 1/2 bottle beer, old bay and water in the bottom of a pot with a 1/4 cup vinegar. Add the shrimp to the steamer basket ’till shrimp are pink and ready to eat. The water should be bubbling hard when you put them in so you have good steam. You need to stir the shrimp so they steam evenly. DO NOT OVERCOOK!

Grilled Shrimp:

Marinade 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 bottle beer, 1/4 cup soy sauce, a splash worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup lemon juice, a shot of hot sauce, and a splash of seasame oil, if you have it (wine instead of beer, depending who is drinking it, or garlic if you have it).

Marinade anywhere from 15 minutes to a day and a half…if the soy or garlic is heavy they will saturate the flavor.

Grill: Temp should be HOT. Cook them 5 minutes a side. Don’t over cook. Serve….YUM!

  1. Sounds very tasty. The grilled shrimp will be very juicy can't wait to try this recipe.

  2. What type of beer was used?

I like to use beer in my chili good ol budweiser and of course drunken chicken on the grill.

And I've used tequila as part of a marinade for shrimp before yummy!

    Hmmm
Might be an article in this somewhere.
