Tamis Express LunchThoughts on WC’s lunch spot, Tami’s Express Lunch & Bakery

Who is Tami?

Tami Drozda, along with husband Mike, opened West Chester’s newest lunch spot a few weeks ago. West Chester natives for the last 25 years, a common case of “mid-life crisis” hit—and exploded onto 106 W. Gay Street!

Are they good at what they do?

The husband-wife duo turned their mutual love of baking from home into what hopefully turns out to be a small town hit. They dabbled in catering graduations, parties, and other celebrations with their yummy baked goods, and decided it was time to expand and share their talents.

Really? Another lunch spot?

A-ha! This is where they getcha. Some town residents would argue that eateries in town have a big taste, but a bigger price—think $10-$12. What Tami and Mike have done is switched the ratio—a big taste for a God’s honest deal! They’re here to remind us that good service, hot food, and quick turnout does not have to equal a hefty price tag. Their goal? To serve high quality, full meals for a $6–$8! Lucky us!

Ok, so, it’s reasonably priced. What makes it tasty?

Aloha Bakery had a great set-up when it came to the bakery style. All of Tami’s baked goods are whipped up on the premises, and they boast a full-scale bakery opening at 7 am daily. They also have premium deli meat—especially three different varieties of to-die-for turkey!

What contribution does it make to West Chester?

My two favorite things about Tami’s—other than the great sammies and wonderful personalities—are the ways it gives to the local community. Everything not sold during the business day is donated to churches and charities in the area—that means breads, pastries, etc! And because their bakery also offers fresh baked items—baguettes, full loaves, etc, for sale, it means that West Chester residents have an option to *buy local*! This helps out the environment by cutting down shipping emissions from the faraway lands of Commerical Breads—and all you have to do is walk into town! Everyone wins!
